Choose automatic setup or apply the patch yourself. Both downloads are configured for this server.

Keep the Steam client open and signed in to an account with access to Awesomenauts. The game uses your Steam session to authenticate with awesomever; you do not need a separate awesomever account. On Windows, setup checks the required DirectX libraries and opens the Microsoft installer if they are missing.

Automatic setup and updates
This updater targets Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) with Windows PowerShell 5.1. It uses the 64-bit version of DepotDownloader to download the game; the game itself remains 32-bit. Compatibility of the complete setup with older Windows versions has not been verified.
Download the ZIP and extract it to a new folder of your choice. Double-click Install-Awesomever.cmd to install the game.
- Extract the entire ZIP outside your Steam library. Choose a folder where your account can write files.
- Open Install-Awesomever.cmd and accept the first installation.
- Sign in to Steam when DepotDownloader asks. The game is downloaded from Steam using your account.
- The updater checks the installation, applies this server’s patch, and starts the game.
- Next time, use Play Awesomever.lnk in the installation folder. This shortcut starts the game directly; keep Steam open.
Open Install-Awesomever.cmd again when you want to check for updates. It asks before applying a new patch and keeps the previous installation if the update fails. Nothing from the updater needs to run while you play.
Allow space for the original game and additional installed versions. No Python installation is needed. If DirectX setup is required, complete its Microsoft licence and Windows administrator prompts; the game and updater run without elevation. An organization’s script policy may prevent the updater from running.
Apply the patch yourself — manual installation
Use your own original Windows client, build 3280710. Make an independent copy of the complete game folder and keep the original executable.
- Close the game and extract the patch ZIP.
- Open Rom Patcher JS. Choose the original Awesomenauts.exe as the ROM file and Awesomenauts.exe.bps as the patch.
- Apply the patch with source verification enabled. Rename the result to Awesomenauts.exe and place it in your independent game folder.
- Open Awesomenauts.exe directly with Steam open. Only the game executable is patched; keep the other original game files. See INSTALL.txt if DirectX setup is needed.
For each update, return to this page and apply the new patch to your saved original. Do not apply it on top of an older patch.
Getting the original build
In the Steam console, use this command with an account that has access to the depot:

Wait for Steam to confirm completion, then copy the complete downloaded depot out of the Steam library. Access to historical builds is controlled by Steam.
